2015 Keystone Award Presented to Whiting-Turner
On Thursday, April 30, 2015, the American Architectural Foundation’s Board of Regents presented the 2015 Keystone Award to The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company at the 26th annual Accent on Architecture Gala in Washington, D.C.
Whiting-Turner’s expansive portfolio includes healthcare, primary, secondary and higher education, mission critical, historic restoration, industrial and mixed-use retail, office and residential projects across the United States, and reflects their commitment to “serve nationally, build locally.” AAF President and CEO Ron Bogle, Hon. AIA, added, “Whiting-Turner joins the very prestigious company of other Keystone Awardees including the Museum of Modern Art, The Pritzker Family of Chicago, The United States Green Building Council and Save America’s Treasures. As the first construction company to be honored, we were pleased to celebrate over 100 years of their leadership and innovation with our presentation of the Keystone Award.”
Timothy J. Regan, President and CEO, accepted the award on behalf of the organization. He said, “The Keystone Award is a humbling honor for all of us who are Whiting-Turner . . . I’m accepting this award on behalf of all our partners in the business, architects, engineering and design consultants, our great subcontractors and suppliers, and in particular, all of the tradesmen and women who work their hearts out to create these beautiful places. Together, we all get to build the world that we live in.”
The Keystone Award is presented annually to an individual or organization whose portfolio increases the value of the built environment. Whiting-Turner’s extensive portfolio, creative approach, and reputation for excellence align with AAF’s mission, and reflect our commitment to communities transformed through architecture. AAF Regent and Gensler co-CEO Diane Hoskins, FAIA, LEED AP, added, “True to the objectives of the award, Whiting-Turner is one of the unsung heroes in the community of creators that bring forth the places where we live, work and play. They have become a formidable and essential partner of architects, organizations and communities helping to bring vision into a built reality.”
Proceeds from the Gala directly support the work of the American Architectural Foundation and its three international design centers, which provide design leadership and sustainability programs to leaders in architecture, design, education, public policy, urban planning, and historic preservation.
